I liked nearly all the skits and songs in the movie but this one, for me, anyway, was the most educational and deceptively simplest one. Plus, it's funny and illustrates a valid point about the significance of our existence while giving us a bouncy little tune.
Ah, fuck it! Enough with the boring descriptions. Ignore what I said and just watch the damn clip! You'll probably like it.
When Monty Python first became popular in the US people over here in the UK were amazed. It seemed so British in it's comedy style that it was thought that no one else would 'get' it. With the exception of Benny Hill Brit comedy, although popular all around the world, didn't seem to suit the Americans.
ReplyDeleteAs you suggested, Kelly, there was always a deeper level of meaning hidden in their work. As Bart Simpson would say "That's funny on so many levels!"

A long time since I've heard this, good one.
ReplyDeleteAll those numbers spinning around in my head like planets orbiting the sun!! I'm sufficiently traumatized now. Are you happy?
ReplyDeleteOh no, now not only will I have this song stuck in my head, but all the bad quotes and songs from "The Life of Brian" as well.
ReplyDeleteAlways look on the bright side of life!
bazza- Must concur with you, friend. There are deeper levels of meaning in their work. I turned on the closed captioning (the words) to the movie the other night, partially because I'm half deaf and my wife was trying to sleep in the other room and also I wanted to see exactly what they were saying. I have trouble understanding the dialogue spoken in movies, especially if they have an accent, different from American. So when I saw the words on the screen, that helped me pick up a few more things from the movie, as well. I've been doing that more often, lately, when watching any movie on TV. I must be getting older and deafer. Take care, Bazza.
ReplyDeleteThe Angry Lurker- I agree with ya on that.
ReplyDeleteThe Minute Man's Wife- What happens when you suddenly get meteor numbers going across- inside your head? Does that change things up a bit? Why yes... I am sufficiently happy that your are now traumatized. A job well done- for me. :)
ReplyDeleteLost.in.Idaho- Then this song from this movie and the songs in Life of Brain will battle each other and hopefully you'll go batshit crazy just like Minute Man's Wife. lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I loved that song from Life of Brain, too. I featured it on this blog awhile back.
I've always been a particular fan of Eric Idle's songs. This shouldn't surprise me, though, he wrote all of the best ones.
ReplyDeleteThat was AWESOME!! That's all I can say to sum it up. I'll remember that.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! What happened to your well deserved bloggy break!?
I really love this song. It might even replace the little ditty I've got humming around my head these days, "life's a piece of shit, when you think of it". Outer space, sun, orbits, birth and all the other messages hidden within in are technically much more uplifting (I think).
I wonder if Netflix has any Monty Python on their view now section. I'm suddenly in the mood for popcorn and a movie.
Take care Kelly, and hope everyone at home is doing well.
I always loved Monty Python. Their humor was very deep and intellectual, and wow what a wonderful universe we live in.
ReplyDeleteOh and Snee netflix does have several Monty Python selections. I like to watch their clips on netflix though.
I have watched that movie over and over and over and over again. I have it basically memorized.

I can even wear french ticklers if I want to!
AWESOME movie dude.
DocStout- I agree. He did write the best ones in MP. Sorry it took me so long to respond.
ReplyDeleteLilPixi- Glad you liked it. Guess what? I think, just maybe, I'm finally getting around to responding to long past comments. :) Could be!
ReplyDeleteTHE SNEE- Guess what? I'm finally getting around to responding to old comments on the blog. Thanks for commenting. I'm gonna keep this short and just say, "I know what ya mean by all of that" and cut myself off right there. Sorry for being late to respond, dear Rebecca, but I gots to be movin' along to the next person. :) Take care!
ReplyDeleteGreg- I thank you for commenting and wish I could have responded sooner. I've got a lot of catching up to do, I see, from my long absence in the world of blogging. Suffice it to say, I agree with what you said. I would elaborate on your comment but I gotta lot of catching up to do. Did I say that already? Take care, my friend.
ReplyDeleteRico Swaff- I love that "every sperm is sacred" song. One of my faves. agreed. It is an awesome movie. Sorry it took me awhile to respond. A looooong while. :)
