Leonard Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins

Perhaps the lowest point in Leonard Nimoy's career. Somehow, this video clip made me laugh and frightened me- all at once. Where was thou logic participating in this "quality" production, Spock? lol.

Alright... I admit it. I danced to it the whole time.

  1. Blimey Kelly, that is scarey! I noticed in the link to his bio that he just turned eighty. That video nust be at least forty years old. The girls can't dance but they must have been good at something!

From the shy and coy Sir Tom Eagerly:
As I sit here, glass in hand, and view those charming young ladies I am transported back to my youth. I had to sweep the streets for one hundred hours and the magistrate said I was a menace but it was worth it Kelly.
Are you with me old boy?

I need to take a long hot shower, to scrub this off...

  5. SO UNBELIEVABLY SILLY! I'm surprised movie makers passed this up for The Lord of the Rings! Laughter is indeed good for the soul.

  7. in my youth i worshiped vulcans but as i matured and cut down on illegal substances i came to see them as the pompous snobs they really are.

thanks for showing one of them acting like an arse.

  8. Hmmm...quite logical n' stuff, Kelly.
Did you know, speaking of Bilbo Baggins and 'The Hobbit', that J.R.R. Tolkien spent time in Leek and apparently 'middle earth' was inspired by the good folks of this here lil' ol' English town?
I think you should have a follow up video with that fine Canadian actor, William Shatner, 'singing' or was it talking the lyrics of 'Rocket Man' best known performed by your favourite penis, I mean pianist n'stuff, Elton John.
Kind wishes and a Vulcan death grip, your way, Gary :)

  9. bazza- Yeah, that was very hard to believe about him. I knew he was getting up there in years but I had no idea he was 80. If I had to guess, I'd say it was at least forty years old, as well. Since he has his "Spock hairstyle" in the vid, he must have been doing the original star Trek series at the time. Plus, I think he has the point ear thingies on the tops of his ears in this musical treat.

Yeah, those girls were shitty dancers but gosh, they sure were groovy, man. :)

  10. LilPixi- lol... I hear you on the catchy-ness, too. Makes ya wanna get up, sing along and boogie your ass off, don't it?

  11. Shy and Coy Sir Tom Eagerly- Good lord, man, what atrocious acts of depravity did you commit to be punished with street cleaning??? It didn't have anything to do with loose women and tight-fitting mime outfits again did it?

Am I with you? No, not at the moment. You live in the UK. I'm here in America. :) Tee hee.

  12. Lost.in.Idaho- I know you're lovin' all of it. Don't pretend! lol.

No matter how hard you scrub, you'll never be able to separate yourself from the images this video provided in your head. Sweet dreams!

  13. THE SNEE- I agree with ya one hundred and two point four percent, Rebecca. Silliness supremo, this was. Wouldn't it have been too cool if the movie producers had went with this instead of Lord of The Rings. Gosh, just think of all the Oscar nominations it would have garnered. Boggles the mind- much like this video clip. Glad it made you laugh. :)

  14. G- I'm glad this video fills your heart with much joy and hallucinations.

  15. billy pilgrim- You have a valid point there, Billy. Those uptight Vulcans were big time, uppity snobs, weren't they? I thought that, as well. I always called them "control freaks", too, for obvious reasons. If I could, I would jump on a female Vulcan's back and ride her around like a pony, buck-naked. That would teach her to be humble. It would give me a boner, too.

  16. klahanie- No, I didn't know that about J.R.R. Tolkien's inspiration and the Leek/Middle Earth connection. In all honesty, that's pretty fuckin' cool. Now, I'm inspired to go to Leek to check out the surroundings. I'm a big fan of the books and the movies. Not only are the books and movies fun, but the messages they convey, if one pays attention, hit the nail right on The Hobbit's head.

I was thinking of putting up a video of Captain Kirk/Shatner singing "Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds" awhile back but I forgot to. Recently, I've been writing up a ton of post ideas. I'm not sure what the hell my "inspiration" is, lately. ;-)

Enjoy your surroundings, my friend and become one with The Hobbit.

  17. what have I just watched? I think if I was a Star Treck fan, that would hit me bad, but I wasn't expecting Nimoy to participate to that..."thing" I just watched

  18. I never knew this existed until today. I now want to go back in time and warn myself not to watch this

  20. Tasos- Yes, my new friend, it is just a tad disconcerting to watch, isn't it? Maybe Nimoy's excuse for doing this musical number was that he had accidentally over medicated himself that day. Who knows?

  21. The Wolf- First time seeing this, aye? Then what a pleasant surprise it must have been for you. lol. Sorry, we don't offer time travel here but there are certain medicinal herbs that may help. hahahahahahaha... and so on. :)
